Trying Something New

As someone who has to create all my lesson from scratch, I'm constantly looking for resources I can use in class. First, I really like the layout of paper.Ii. I use google classroom everyday and the layout (stream format) is one my students will find very familiar. I love that I can edit the resources that show up and that I can incorporate this into multiple lessons- not only history, but also discussions on finding evidence from multiple sources. While I really look forward to using this in class, there are some limitations. There are some topics that seem to have limited information and this seems to be a resource I would have to carefully scour before letting students loose.
From the link, you can view what I'm currently doing with my 7th grade Social Studies students. We're in the midst of asking ourselves what it means to be civilized and applying these findings to compare and contrast ancient civilizations. We've been learning about Mesopotamia and are now moving onto Egypt; students are loving the differences between these civilizations and what they've learned from reading Greek Mythology in Literature. The cross-curricular approach that History and Lit. have taken this year seems to be helping students make connections! I look forward to seeing students reflection videos next week before the end of the 1st quarter.
